Jacqueline's Complaint

Jacqueline is 37-year-old mother and wife. She explains to her gynecologist that she suffers from daily throbbing bilateral headache pain that prevents her from exercising and working her usual hours.

Jacqueline was referred for neurological evaluation.

On the day we met Jacqueline, her headache pain was severe. She had a stressful event yesterday evening and she subsequently woke up in the early morning with weakness in her right arm and hand that seemed sudden and persistent.

Jacqueline was directed to her local hospital for evaluation, where she received a CAT scan of her head. The head CAT scan revealed that a brain tumor located in the frontal lobe of her brain.

Jacqueline's Pain

Jacqueline expressed to her care team that she was fearful when she learned of her brain tumor. Her brain studies showed a common type of neural tumor (or tumor of the brain) called a meningioma.

Her physicians learned that Jacqueline had two related conditions that may have increased her risk of developing her neural tumor.

Jacqueline  was diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer three years prior to our first encounter.  Additionally, she suffered a head trauma event while skiing 6 years prior.
