IRIS’ CONCUSSION

Iris is a 24-year-soldier in training to be a medic.

"I hit my head, hard…everything is hard now, I just want my life back."

Her situation

During an early morning military training exercise, Iris fell from a height and hit her head. She was sent to the emergency room at her base hospital for evaluation. A CT scan revealed that Iris had a small amount blood between her skull bone and her brain.

Her Disability

Iris was placed on leave and monitored carefully. She did not have to surgery, but she was monitored carefully until her CT read as normal. However, Iris's symptoms persisted. After her injury, she always felt tired and couldn't make it through the morning without a nap.  She had difficulty completing her thoughts and reading, and she fell into a deep depression about her situation.

Her Plan

Iris learned how her severe concussion injured her neural networks. She trained in personalized neural sensory and cognitive techniques as a part of her head injury rehabilitation. Iris sought methods to rebalance her nervous system to help her push forward past her painful circumstances and return to her military career.

Her Experience

Iris battled a complex painful condition that many women find hard to describe. Women with brain injuries often appear normal to the observer, however nothing about the neural changes after a brain injury is normal.

With Your Brain Doctor®, Iris increased her awareness about her altered neural responses, which helped her eliminated some of her confusion and distress. With expert advice and navigation, Iris received clear answers about how to recover her brain and her life.
